We love reviewing music from artists who left a great impression in the past.

It is our honour to be back and talk about Andrea Pizzo’s and the Purple Mice with their new EP (in collaboration with Silvia Criscenzo) titled “Ada”

“Ada”, inspired by the musings of a lesser-discussed yet hugely impactful historical figure, the mathematician and scholar Ada Byron, the project celebrates someone understood to have been the first programmer of human history. For this purpose, the wonderful Criscenzo brought her female flicker into the EP, reuniting multiple feelings and elevating Pizzo’s work.

So far, the songs are performing so well online that just on Spotify, they have more than 115k streams each!

It is no surprise how well the audience is receiving these tracks. There is a puzzle to talk about, it improves and expands Pizzo’s catalogue, and it introduces his listeners to what will be coming after, as the song Ada will be the opening song of his future album.

We ought to mention his past album, “Potatoes on Mars”, a refined work which we reviewed here

Hearing the evolution of his music while still keeping his essence alive is refreshing. Few artists can pull such a catalogue and stay in the industry! But let’s dive into the sound:

“Ada” feels more like the introduction to something as if the whole idea and concept of his new album were already being created. The rock elements are envigorating, and it stays in line with his past releases.

“The Boys from Silicon Valley” is more connected to his group and who they are, more wild and adventurous, as we can imagine a rehearsal might be with all of them in the same place. There is passion and grit in each of the kicks.

So far, Pizzo has always ensured his work was crafted to perfection, and the outcome is as great as expected. We will keep following and waiting for more in the coming months!
